It’s Purim

jewish-archives:

Hi everyone,

I know I did say I would get some Purim recipes together. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten that together, but here are some old recipes I’ve already gathered.

Debla (a Libyan Jewish dessert for Purim), source and recipe

Hadgi badah (an Iraqi Jewish dessert for Purim), source and recipe. My family adds the rose water and I recommend it, it’s okay if you can’t find it though. (I also posted my recipe here)

Moroccan challah (also called ojos de aman/einei Haman, made for Purim), source and recipe.

Polish challah (another traditional challah for Purim made by Polish Jews), source and recipe.

Purim cake (an Italian Jewish honey based dessert), source and recipe.

Other Iraqi Jewish foods to eat on Purim include chickpea sambousak but I don’t know of a recipe that is up.

we have something very similar to or exactly the same as deblas which seem to have a variety of spellings but fazuelos comes up most often on google

I genuinly thought they were supposed to be ear shaped though not roses
