#[deep breaths] lemme talk to you about porthos du vallon#that’s not the name he was born with but it’s his name just as sure as this is his family; he chose both for himself#he wears a pendant of st jude around his neck: the saint for the hopeless and despaired#because he is the son of a slave and a child of the streets and a former criminal#he is intimately familiar with hoplessness and despair#but more than anything he craved a family; he craved love and loyalty and honor#when his life had given him no reason to place even a scrap of value on any of these things#he was raised fighting just to survive but he still wanted more#he wanted to fight for a cause; he wanted to fight to protect others#there is no greater heart among the musketeers; this one beats for all of them (x)
