yeah, exactly. the whole concept of having a ‘people i see as women’ category is kinda fucked up
and yes it’s well meant as a way of avoiding calling nb people women but it still kinda equates them with them if that makes sense? it’s still a ‘this is a womanly thing’ kinda sentiment which is where it gets uncomfortable
It is, yes – and it seems to be one of those things that people go ‘okay so this is a problem why dont we change the name’ to (see also: genderswap art/fic/etc) which just gives you exactly the same problem but called a different thing…because its the concept itself thats the problem.
that does make sense yes, its people looking at a group of people and going ‘well that basically means woman (or man)’ because either they dont understand the difference/dont want to attempt to and would rather fit everything into their existing idea of the/a system or because they believe you to have some idenpendant signifier which clearly fits you into a category in their mind (eg body parts or presentation). which isn’t a problem unique to nonbinary people but also I dont really have anthing to offer in the way of solutions on this past expressions of frustration and the vague conclusion that the way we conceptualise sexuality in relation to gender (or more accurately categories of gender…) needs some working on
