I know this is way in advance but have the announced dates for ma mcm yet? last weekend in may isnt the first weekend of school half terms this year so i don’t know which one there going for and i’m trying to figure out how likely it is i can acctually go

??

Things mcm expo really needs to work on for the future in a convention centre that annoyingly has a lot of trouble dealing with a large amount of people: accessability and fire safety.

meaning: not having your only entrance up a flight of stairs, having enough places to sit down and not putting barriers in front of your main exit mostly

(also ventilation but not sure theres really a lot that can be done there)

Obligatory Expo Post

(that I only do some of the time…)

  • I didn’t have anything friday for the first time in a while so didn’t arrive at 5pm for once which was nice
  • I still have a 3D file for printing an ironman hand for doing tony again in future. modeling takes ages…but! eddie and jemma did some hair related magic that was really cool
  • there might be vintagey photos coming of the others cosplays that day…maybe…if they worked out.
  • the ibis hotel doesn’t have an extensive dinner menu
  • expos new queuing and entrance policy is bizaar
  • yes put your only entrance up a flight of stairs, cause its not like you already have an accessibility problem…
  • and it bottlenecks everyone i’d imagine
  • apparently there was a lift (I didn’t see it but I was alright with stairs this weekend) but apparently it was also tiny so i doubt it meets the regs to count as a disabled lift
  • our hotel was about ten paces from east entrance so ot being able to go in their even though it was really quite was a blow
  • saturday doing will from hannibal was fun
  • and i stil need to watch more hannibal sorry
  • mel kept telling me how good i looked from existing simularity I think? I enjoyed it and I enjoyed having stubble xD and kind of being handcuffed to things  though i may try and make the jumpsuit thing fit better for future of this one
  • or i could possibly put another of his outfits together for when we do this again? that could be fun
  • we met loads of really great people doing this one
  • oli was hella good as alana 
  • I tried doing kissing in photos and it was interesting
  • then the hail came…and we retreated to the hotel room to dry off and eat snacks for a bit after wrapping sams awesome tattoos in bin bags to protect them
  • we discovered the wonders of just eat on saturday evening and i nearly fell asleep at eddie and jemmas
  • sundays reg shoe cosplay didn’t quite work out cause I couldn’t get the crossbow bolts rigged up properly 😦
  • but I still really enjoyed doing it (and it was the glorious 25th!) so might have to again when i figure that bit out
  • it was also hilarious cause i got quite a few ‘i’m trying to place this’ looks then them taking two places past me and going “its discworld!” and pulling me round for a photo 🙂 (shout out to the guy who went “oh dud thats really awesome” very loudly, I liked you
  • but I haven’t acctually seen any of the ones taken so it’d be great if anyone else can point me in that direction
  • I’m really tempted to repeat this with cross bow bolts at lfcc if i can go for more than one day, as we’re hopefully coordinating something the other day? (it wont be the 25th but that wont be a convention day again for a while now)
  • speaking of we really underdiscussed that and we should do so now for people who were thinking about that (sorry)
  • I used my laziest ever cosplay purhase of clip on brace buttons which were very useful
  • dinner in the evening with les amis was amazing and it should be an expo tradition (though i had to run off for a train 😦 so maybe on saturday next time?)
  • I’m sorry this is so long

I did a stupid thing and took my proper camera but forgot to put the battery in before I left, I find my mobile phone camera incredibly awkward to operate mostly because its a mobile phone camera and they’re just awkward in nature, so I didn’t get many pictures.

I did however get a couple of decent ones at the night vale meet on Sunday. So this is Jemma as Carlos and Oli(?) as Cecil

Back from mcm expo now, been at uni today so the post is a little late (studio all day tomorrow too…I need more sleep)

this is just me rambling at length so

 

arrived quite late friday but still in time to get our wristbands so we didn’t have to queue saturday morning which was good, even after we’d spent awhile running round kingx/stpan underground station looking for each other. Didn’t go in to the show that day but went then to check into the hotel, they upgraded us cause mel said we’d come further than we had (accents are awesome) so next time we’re going to say we’re on our honeymoon or somthing. The staff at the hotel were really nice and helpful all weekend, must be an interesting but very hectic weekend for them? Then back out to meet up with jemma and eddie and do some modern les mis photos and then food at their hotel and early night.

Saturday was Grantaire cosplay day and after battling with the wind up the road (may have acctually been worse sunday but felt like that flag was going to take off sometimes) went into the hall today, was probably better than in may but it was way to busy on the saturday to acctually see stuff to buy and very warm, particualrly for Mel in her enjolras get up. Also corridors seem to have got narrower. Got briefly acosted by some pirates while finding a drink then saw everyone a bit later at the les mis meet, great to see old friends and meet all the new people/semi-new people who I’d met on tumblr but not in person yet (lots of people! more than may which I thought was wierd given its longer since the film? but still great so yeah) I still need to go through the masterpost lists and follow people I just haven’t found the time yet – I’m not ignoring you I promise. We have a couple of photosets from this day but we’ll probably try and get more of this one in the future I think.

Sunday was enjolras and combeferre day, we thought we might not be as recognisable in this one but we still got stopped quite a bit (about the same possibly, acctually?) the massive flag probably helped – and having our bahorel with us for a while walking round on that day. Sort of crashed the nightvale meet to to see all the people we know doing that, and see all the amazing cosplays there. Jemma took some lovely photos in the late afternoon but then had to leave and say goodbye and go get the train (horrible journey back thanks to the stupid weather)

Miss expo and people already, we must do something together soon

this is me being well prepared for expo and doing a costume test the night before

so this is R for saturday without the proper shirt or a cravat as mel is bringing them for me and without facial hair stuff because I couldn’t be bothered to do it.

I’m also doing Enjolras’ outfit from red and black on sunday (I haven’t taken photos today but there’s at least one in my cosplay tag but without the wig (you’ll have to wait for sunday or proper photos on here for that cause I want to go to bed now)

Also be around tomorrow but not for the whole thing just later on in the day as I have studio all day doing enjolras again but as modern au
