It makes no sense because it predicates itself on the notion that you’re supposed to appreciate something racist that literally contributes to your erasure in an already tenuous situation with respect to the dearth of Black characters in media and fiction

Like…to frame this in a way that makes it glaringly clear what the problem is, you legit out here tryna tell me I should be grateful and appreciative of someone who literally took the time to methodically create and erase a character’s Blackness, intentionally whitewash them, and knowingly contribute to the erasure of what little representation we have?

I’m supposed to go “ooh pretty” instead of “the mayo men and women and folks are at it again”?

It seems to me it’s gotta be quite the privilege to tell someone they should appreciate someone devoting time to stripping a character of their Blackness like that is a unique and novel concept in today’s society that already tries to whitewash and bleach any indication of melanin.

But again, not to be that Black, so I guess I’m sleep. *files nails*
