if youre not psychotic you have absolutely no business joking abt jared leto tbh. it may be a shocker! but suicide squad is actively perpetuating very dangerous very fucking real ableism specifically towards psychotic ppl and its not!!! just a joke!!! im not saying u gotta make x amount of Correct Discourse posts just be fuckin mindful
if ur non psychotic u should rly consider reblogging this
mk im gonna elaborate on this since i find it funny that ppl rnt talking abt it and theres some questions in the tags
- basically the entire premise of these jokes are that the movie is trying too hard to be Edgy
- the characters in the movie are explicitly meant to be mentally ill, SPECIFICALLY psychotic
- theyre portraying these mentally ill characters as stereotypical tropes such as “mentally ill=crazy=violent” which is one of the most common but insidious forms of saneism (anti-psychotic ableism)
- non-psychotic people calling our symptoms that the ppl involved in this movie are fetishizing and marketing “edgy” as a joke is perpetuating that ableism
- psychotic ppl are making jokes about this movie because were laughing at how non-psychotic ppl portray psychotic ppl…..meaning its specifically intracommunity
- non-psychotic ppl dont share these experiences so making memes and jokes about it is capitalizing on anti-psychotic ableism
basically: we face the ableism that this movie is entrenched in every
day of our life, and non-psychotics do not have any right to make jokes
about itWell I mean I think Jared Leto’s antics & how they are being hyped is ridiculous & richly deserve mockery. But these are basically my feels about this film.
Like yeah it looks like it has an aesthetic & whatever, but I mean the whole thing is premised on “psychotic = evil”.
