i sort of thought that? guilt+knowing porthos knows him well enough to figure stuff out, makes sense. or they can’t work out how to have them interact too much without aramis just breaking and telling him anyway perhaps?

i think aramis is going to get some very painful reminder to look after other things/people he cares about while he’s off chasing stuff he cant actually have
