Because they have the loveliest relationship even though they share hardly any dialogue during the entire series. And I’d really love the text go with all that implied subtext. Like, how did Porthos come to leave the court. And the trial makes it clear that he wasn’t the only one to move up in society via the musketeers. Also the judge sounds pretty fed up with Treville and his special boys. And while you’d expect the captain to defend Porthos he never even shows doubt in private that he might have done it, and we also have Porthos really getting into people’s space for insinuiting the captain did something shady – even when it’s Aramis, aka Porthos’ favourite person in the world, who is suffering a lot of stress and emotional pain during that ep. Just sayin’.)
