Please if you are out protesting and you wear contacts, do not wear your contacts to protest! Tear gas and other crowd control gases can mess up your eyes and even blind you if you are wearing contacts!

Chemicals get trapped under the lenses and cause increased eye irritation and damage, it’s possible for contact lenses to fuse to the eyes- causing permanent blindness. Source
consider also: wearing an old or spare pair of glasses if you have them incase they get knocked off or damaged during the protest or taken off you by the police.
the best thing to wear is probably perscription swimming goggles if you have them – but then also carry your glasses
