western christian interpretations of scripture are radically different than jewish ones. the foundation of western christian culture—not just personal faith, but the values that are instilled in the population, which carry onto christian-raised atheists and agnostics—is built on oppressive structures; the foundation of jewish culture is built on social justice, progression, and change. modernization is done with constructive, transparent discussion by the marginalized corners of our communities, not with silencing. our communities have issues but they are different issues, dealt with in different ways, than western christian communities.
